Simon was involved in research about bowel cancer through Cabrini and his surgeon Prof. Paul McMurrick and we would like to continue this involvement by making the Simon Poynton Memorial Shield cricket match a fundraiser for “Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer”, Cabrini’s research department looking for the cure for bowel cancer and raising awareness around early diagnosis.
“I felt like my body was trying to tell me something, so I went to the doctor… When I came out after having the procedure my husband had been called in to be there, so I knew it wasn’t good news. My bowel cancer diagnosis and surgery was a whirlwind three weeks and very tough.”
Geoff Cox or ‘Coxy’ as he is called by almost everyone, is a larger than life personality, best known for his successful music career and as host of travel show Coxy’s Big Break. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer on October 1, 2008
“I was a 34 year old busy working mum, very fit and healthy, with an 18 month toddler. I was eight weeks pregnant when I was suddenly diagnosed with bowel cancer – a stage 3 tumour. I had no obvious symptoms”.
Honour the memory of a loved one by paying tribute to them and raising urgent funds for bowel cancer research.
Your generous donations will help us directly fund research initiatives and innovation, and support fundraising activities that promote the importance of bowel cancer screening.
